An Alumnus of University of Dayton, Fred is a licensed CPA in both North Carolina and Georgia. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), Charlotte Estate Planners Council, Construction Financial Management Association, North Carolina Center for Non Profits, Affordable Housing Association of CPA’s and the Chamber of Commerce.
Prior to beginning his career in the accounting field, Fred was commissioned in the U.S. Army and served five years for his country. While stationed in Germany, he was a HAWK Missile Battery Commander. Fred was a District Senior Advisor in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge for his military service.
After re-joining the civilian ranks, Fred accepted a job as Staff Accountant for Geo. G. Scott & Co., the first known CPA firm to open its doors in the state of North Carolina. He was named Partner at Geo. G. Scott & Co. in 1985 and Managing Partner in 1997. In 2002, Fred joined forces with Gary Flouhouse and Ronald Vance to form Vance Flouhouse & Garges, PLLC.

Fred’s experience continues to draw clients seeking a knowledgeable firm with proven expertise and results. His proficiency in business and individual income taxes, and estate planning makes him a valuable planning resource for his clients’ tax planning needs.
Fred has two adult sons, Chris, a Charlotte jazz musician and recording engineer, and Eric, a physician and Afghanistan veteran currently serving at the Walter Reed Medical Center. Coincidentally, Eric was also awarded the Bronze Star for military service in combat environments.
